Paul Davies
Personal Profile
May 1991 - first visit to Romania on an aid trip with local Christian care.
Took part in 'Aid Trips' once every year to various locations in Romania.
In 1994 Paul heard of "Children in Distress", a charity aimed at helping abandoned children suffering from AIDS. At the time Paul was a S.E.N. teacher and every summer he went out to help this charity and stayed for 3-4 weeks on each occasion.
In 1997, after a particularly bad summer, when a child very close to Paul died, he decided that he was being led to make a permanent commitment. He resigned from his job, sold his house and moved to Cernavoda to work in an AIDS hospice for "Children in Distress".
Since July 1998 he has worked as Team Leader and Project Director at St. Thomas' Slobozia, a hospice caring for 12 children with HIV and varying special needs. At that time a community project for 30 families was established, which has now finished.
Paul left "Children in Distress" in January 2000 and "Everyone's Child Romania" was formed in March 2000, committed to caring and supporting children with HIV/AIDS in their family environment and working with leading AIDS specialist, Dr. Matusa.
